If you love great company, great clothes and hate fashion waste, join us in boosting the circular fashion economy with this exciting NO FAST FASHION CLOTHES SWAP! Eco Styles and Swap in the City present 'An Ideal Swap in the City’. A social event where clothes are swapped in the spirit of generosity and community to make a positive environmental impact.
With Australia being one of the biggest consumers of fashion in the world per capita, we ban fast fashion from our swaps to disrupt the excessive flow of fast fashion. We encourage you to bring quality brands in the cateories of affordable luxury, sustainable and retro items in great condition. Please find a guide on the types of brands to bring here and below. Please aim to bring items that others will be excited to receive. We will not accept the brands on this list.
Our swaps have a party vibe with like-minded fashionistas. They are the go-to events to bring your beloved quality clothing so that they get loved and cherished in a second life. Over 300,000 tonnes of clothing waste is disposed of each year. Swapping is one of the circular economy actions to reduce waste and divert fashion waste from landfill.
FILMING
This clothes swap is extra special because parts of it will be filmed as part of an episode of a tv series to promote sustainability and circular community action. We would love for you to join us and help inspire more people to put an end to the fashion overconsumption crisis with this swap.
Because of filming requirements, you must be over 18 to participate in this event.
Note: The film crew are working independently of the event organisers and will select what is filmed filmed at their discretion. Therefore clothes swap participants will likely only be in the background or not shown at all. If the production team wishes to film a person, they will explicitly request the individual's participation and permission.

Time: Arrive 9:30 am to check-in and receive your swap tokens. Welcome and swapping will begin at 10:30 am

HOW THE SWAP WORKS
1. Bring 1 – 10 (maximum) items of clothing or accessories to add to the swap collection pool.
2. Guests will receive tokens based on the number of items accepted into the swap. These are used as currency to pick up the same number of items as tokens in your hand. Clothing is checked in, then sorted onto racks and tables by our team of volunteers.
3. Guests can only begin browsing and trying on swap items only after the swap is officially declared open by the host at 10:30 am. This will take place after the brief welcome and introduction at the beginning.
SWAP GUIDELINES
Clothes brought to the swap MUST be clean, good quality and in good condition: not worn out, faded, pillaged, pongy or damaged. (Good quality also means something you would gift to a friend). Please be mindful and considerate of what other swappers will be thrilled to receive 😊.
Please be calm, respectful and have no more than 5 items in your possession at any given time. No hoarding.
We can’t guarantee guests will find their sizes as it depends on what other guests bring; Regardless, accessories are included in the pool, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. We encourage ALL SIZES to participate. This swap is for all genders so we welcome clothing designed for male, female, adaptive and all body types.
Items to bring: dresses, pants, skirts, tops, jumpers, coats, jumpsuits, catsuits, shoes, bags, scarves, hats, sunnies.
WHAT NOT TO BRING: we will not accept fast fashion, underwear, pyjamas, workout gear or swimwear. A list of brands we will not accept can be found here.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ITEMS THAT DO NOT MEET THIS CRITERIA CANNOT BE ACCEPTED INTO THE SWAP.
