DROP-IN & SWAP AT SWAP IN THE CITY

Welcome to your new favourite way to refresh your wardrobe — without buying new. We are the first 'no-fast-fashion' clothes swap hub.

Swap in the City is a swap hub in North Sydney where preloved pieces become someone else’s next treasure. We host weekly drop-in swap sessions designed to make circular fashion and sustainable fashion simple and accessible.

As Australia's first preloved swap boutique in a mainstream shopping mall, we're paving the way for the secondhand mall movement in Australia.

Our mission as a sustainable fashion platform is to reduce textile waste by making swap culture mainstream through our innovative establisment.

We're open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 am - 2 pm. We also host special sustainable fashion events throughout the year, so follow us on Instagram @SwapInTheCityAu to stay in the loop.

HOW DROP-IN SWAP DAYS WORK

1. RSVP your chosen swap day
This helps us optimise your SITC boutique visit.

2. Drop in between 11am – 2pm
Arrive anytime during the session.

3. Bring about 3 to 10 quality items
First google the brands to confirm that they are not fast fashion, then search to see that they fall under the category of 'affordable luxury' or 'affordable designer'. We accept brands in the categoriy of this list, this higher-end list and also the list below at the end of this page.

4. Quality check & tokens
Approved items receive one swap token each.

5. Browse & discover
Explore the curated swap pool and choose your new-to-you treasures.

6. Swap & style
Trade your tokens, take your pieces home, love them long term — and remember to tag us on socials with your swap finds: @SwapInTheCityAu

*Swap in the City is a self-funded, volunteer-run circular fashion hub. As a new innovation, we're consistently in the process of evolving our sorting system and model to align with the vision we have for the hub. Your patience is appreciated.

WHAT TO BRING

We are attempting to build a beautiful, high-quality swap culture — not a dumping ground.

Please bring pieces that are:

  • Clean and in excellent condition (not too faded, wornout or in need of repairs)

  • Affordable luxury, sustainable, ethical or luxury brands (e.g. Dion Lee)

  • Retro, vintage, handmade, sustainable & slow fashion brands

  • As much as possible, made from natural materials (silk, linen, cotton, leather, hemp, bamboo, etc)

  • Non-fast fashion brands (always use search engines like Google, Ecosia or AI to verify if the item brand/label is fast fashion). Here's a list of brand we cannot accept

  • Quality bags and jewellery (also from affordable luxury, ethical, sustainable or luxury brands)

WHAT WE DON’T ACCEPT

To maintain the integrity of the swap pool, we cannot accept:

  • Fast fashion brands (always ask Google or AI if the brand is fast fashion. Just because an item is expensive does not mean the brand is not fast fashion)

  • Underwear, swimwear or sleepwear

  • Activewear, gym gear and athleisure wear

  • Damaged, stained, dirty, pilled, faded, moldy or odorous items

  • These are brands that we don't take

We reserve the right to accept or reject items brought in — this helps protect the experience for everyone.

* We accept donations. We accept donations that fit into our accepted categories for people who wish to donate clothes & accessories without swapping. We believe it's better for the items to end up with someone who will use them, instead of instead of ending up in landfill.

TYPES OF BRANDS WE ACCEPT

The list of the types of brands we accept can be found here and here and also below. These lists are a guide showing majority of the brands we accept, but it's not an exhaustive list. As there are 14,000 clothing brands in Australia and possibly millions in the world, we can't list all of them. We're likely to accept the item if the brand is under the affordable luxury, ethical, sustainable, or luxury category.
